Turn your passion into a profession. Baylor University’s Master of Arts in Teaching program is designed for individuals with a non-education bachelor’s degree who are ready to become certified classroom teachers. In just over a year, you’ll earn both your teaching certification and master’s degree—through a nationally recognized model that blends rigorous coursework with faculty-guided clinical experiences. Start in June, be classroom-ready by the following August.

The Premier Pathway to Teaching Certification

Built on the foundation of Baylor’s nationally award-winning teacher-education model, our Master of Arts in Teaching offers several initial certification pathways. Students interested in middle and secondary certification can pursue content areas in English, History, Life Science, Mathematics, Physical Science, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish.

  • Elementary (EC-6) Education (Early Childhood – Grade 6 General Education certification): ELE
  • Middle Grades Education (Grades 4-8 content-specific certification): MLE
  • Secondary Education (Grades 7-12 content-specific certification / 6-12 for physical science certification): SLE
