Minor in Educational Studies
Educational Studies is a 15-credit-hour minor* that offers non-education majors with a foundational and interdisciplinary understanding of the pivotal role of education in society through exploring learning processes and policy. Courses explore the principles, theories, and practices that shape education — how individuals learn, how educational systems operate and how various educational strategies apply across diverse contexts.
It includes courses in leadership, child development, learning sciences, and social issues in education.
Unlike programs designed for teacher certification, it focuses on broader educational themes, preparing students for roles in educational advocacy, community engagement, curriculum development and informal learning environments. This minor is ideal for students across disciplines who are interested in the dynamics of teaching and learning beyond traditional classroom settings.
*Completion of this minor does NOT meet the requirements for teacher certification.
