MAT Certification Information

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is a residential program offering initial teacher certification in the State of Texas. 

State of Texas Certification

Elementary Education

Early Childhood through Grade 6 general education certification.

Middle Grades Education

Grade 4 through Grade 8 with content-specific certification.

• Physical Science (Chemistry and/or Physics)
• Science
• Social Studies
• Spanish

Secondary Education

Grade 7 through Grade 12 with content-specific certification.

*Physical Science certifies in Grades 6–12
